Twin Valley Electric Cooperative get USDA Loans

The City of Parsons partnered with Twin Valley Electric Cooperative in Altamont to apply for USDA Rural Development’s Rural Economic Development Loans and Grants Program (REDLG).

USDA’s REDLG program is a zero-interest loan and grant to Rural Utilities Service borrowers to promote rural economic development and job creation projects. Applications are scored on job creation potential, sustainability of projects, suitability of project to the area, diversification of employment in the area, amount of supplemental funds, relative income, and employment levels.

This zero interest loan program is a great opportunity for Labette County. Once the City’s portion is paid back to Twin Valley, it will be used as a revolving loan fund or grants to help stimulate job creation in Labette County.

The funds from this loan program will be used for the completion of Geifer Drive, the road that runs from U.S. 59 to County Line Road through Tolen Creek Industrial Park and water and sewer infrastructure.
